First time students must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class for orientation – this includes visiting Bikram Yoga students, regardless of previous experience. You do not need to call to reserve a space or pre-register. All other students please arrive prepared for class a minimum of 10 minutes early to sign in and allow your body to adjust to the heat.
What if I have injuries or illnesses?
Please let the teacher know if you are pregnant, had surgery, or have any injuries, illnesses, or special conditions. Provided that you have been cleared to practice by your doctor, you can still do most yoga postures with a few modifications that the teacher will show you.
What should I bring?
An open mind and a positive attitude.
Proper attire: wear something light and fitted. Avoid sweats, long pants or heavy t-shirts, as we heat the room.
Yoga mat, large towel and water bottle. You can also rent or buy these items at the studio (see the price list).
Empty stomach. Refrain from eating 2-3 hours prior to class.
Proper hydration. Please drink plenty of water throughout the day, before coming to class. Hydration is very important. Click here for more information on hydration.
What to expect during class?
Expect to sweat. The room is heated and sweating is an intentional component of Bikram’s Yoga.
Class is 90 minutes. We do 26 postures (2 sets of each posture) and 2 breathing exercises.
Set up your mat at the rear of the yoga room.
Feel free to approach the instructors with any questions/concerns before and after class.
What should I do after class?
Cool down, stay is savasanna at least 2-3 min.
Drink plenty of water
Come back the next day even if you are sore
***In order to be effective, yoga should be practiced on a regular basis (3-4 times a week) with no long lapses of time between lessons. A minimum commitment of 10 classes in 30 days is recommended to derive maximum benefit from this yoga program.
